Summer is the perfect time to catch up on all those books you’ve wanted to read for so long. Here’s my summer list!
Kasyan from the Beautiful Lands – Ivan Turgenev
This is just a small Penguin edition, but I love this writer so it’s a great way to get my Turgenev-fix in between other books!
Philippics – Cicero
I love classical literature and Cicero is definitely one of my favourite authors. Normally I don’t have time to read a complete classic work, but this summer might be the right time to catch up on some of Cicero’s speeches.
Anna Karenina – Lev Tolstoj
I’ve had some pretty heated discussions about Tolstoj and Turgenev with a friend, and I really need to read some more Tolstoj to make sure I don’t start talking nonsense in these discussions. I actually wanted to read War and Peace, but as Levin is one of my friend’s favourite characters, he convinced me to try Anna Karenina first.
Books vs. Cigarettes – George Orwell
I feel like I need to read some more essays and this subject seems like a good start. I’m hoping for a lot of great quotes!
An Officer and a Spy – Robert Harris
I love the books by Robert Harris and to me, historical fiction is a great way to learn more about history. I don’t know that much about the Dreyfus-case, and I really hope to gain more insight into it by reading this book.
Poésies – Arthur Rimbaud
This year I’ve read a lot more poetry than usual, but I also wanted to read more French. 
The solution: read more French poetry! Also, this edition is so incredibly pretty.
Virgins – Diana Gabaldon
In between great Russian writers, essays and French poetry, I also need something more light. I’ve been wanting to read this book for ages, but I just didn’t have the time for it! I’m a big fan of Diana Gabaldon, so I don’t think I can wait any longer.
The Story of My Life – Casanova
A new Dutch translation of this work spiked my interest, but I already have a beautiful old edition (with great pictures)! I once ran into it when I was looking for a gift for a friend, but the pictures are kind of erotic so it didn’t seem appropriate… Of course, I already fell in love with the book, so it was no option to put it back!

&lnito;&absp;Hqstoriquemenu », l’âge d’or commençant « mi 60′s » ….vous avez bu ??A part ça , ce type à le charisme d’Arcachon et ses gossips n’interesseraient même pas Voici!Si les histoires de chiottes peuvent être parfois révélatrices ou simplement marrantes ,il faut un peu de talent quand même, comme par ex. ceux de McNeil et McCain et leur « Please Kill Me », traduit chez Alia et que je conseille à tout un chacun porté sur la chose.

I just started reading American Gods by Neil Gaiman. This is probably a love-it-or-loathe-it book… I’m also looking forward to reading Conclave by Robert Harris.
